although all the books say that babies are basically just operating on autopilot for the first month of their life, it's hard not to think that they're really trying to tell us something with their smiley but apparently gassy faces, or their spontaneous hugs (née moro reflexes), or their quizzical hand movements.

also, baby hats are pretty much the best.
