Cal Ave Farmer's Market

Cal Ave Farmer's Market

The other day the whole family went to the farmer's market!

As you can see, irene looks real excited to be there. Well, there's more to see. The cal ave farmer's market has a good mix of produce and excessive novelties, but it's a fun atmosphere overall. It opens at 8 and by around 10am, it usually fills up and because we always putter around in the morning, we didn't get in until around 10:20.

Since spring is in full effect, the market has turned its efforts to cherries, apricots and blueberries. The blueberries, as you would expect, are pricey and not particularly appealing [kate says: you are crazy, the blueberries looked great], but the cherries were good, so we picked some up.

But that was the extent of it—it's still very early in the season (it's not even tomato time yet), so we held off on most things [kate says: you are insane, there is tons of good produce in may -- this is california, pal]. But irene had lots of fun eventually just taking in the sights. Since her neck is much stronger now, she can really look around

so much of the morning was spent with irene looking around and staring at whatever caught her eye. But the party didn't last very long, by the time we made it to the far end of the market to order a breakfast sandwich, irene had fallen asleep and pretty much stayed conked out until we made our way back home. Another successful trip!
